Are you worried about attending a new group? Being a new face? Talking to new people? Not sure what to expect? Or where to go? Do you just want to know what our groups are like?
In this blog post, Connected Community Peer Support Worker, Annette, shares an insight into our Bump to Baby Coffee Mornings to help you know what to expect...
Our Bump to Baby groups take place in various venues across Derby. You will find them right in the heart of your community at local Children’s Centres or Community Rooms and they are free & open to all. The venues are easily accessible by public transport & with ample parking either on-site or nearby street parking.
On arriving at one of our Bump to Baby groups you will always be greeted by one of our lovely Perinatal Peer Supporters who will welcome you with a friendly smile, a warm drink and even a biscuit if you’re lucky.
Connected Perinatal Peer Supporters are well trained and experienced in providing non-judgemental, evidence-based information and a listening ear.
It is always amazing to be able to see real changes in the lives of new & expectant families from the support that they receive at our Bump to Baby groups. Just being able to get out of the house and to be able to meet other new parents in those difficult first few months can be a real lifeline to some.
I personally love to see how the little ones grow over the weeks and become more aware of each other; you can see their social skills developing before your very eyes. It is also amazing to see the friendships that are formed between the parents who attend our groups and how they genuinely care about and support each other. Together, we always welcome new faces!
Our Bump to Baby groups are very special, you should come along and give them a try! Please feel free to bring along a friend, partner or grandparent etc for support.
